Tommy Hunter (strained right groin) has been cleared for a three- to four-inning rehab start Wednesday at Double A Frisco after throwing a bullpen session today in Arizona. He will work out tomorrow at the Surprise Recreation Campus before flying to the Metroplex later in the day.
Hunter's arm strength is fine, and the main concern is making sure Hunter gets in enough pitcher's fielding practice to get back in "baseball shape doing baseball things," said pitching coach Mike Maddux.
Neftali Feliz (right shoulder inflammation) threw 46 pitches in a bullpen session this morning and will join Hunter on Wednesday and throw an inning for the RoughRiders.
Ian Kinsler said that his sluggish start to the season isn't a result of a change of approach in the leadoff spot. He's hitting .231, but his on-base percentage is a relatively decent .341. Kinsler leads the Rangers with 16 walks.
Manager Ron Washington reiterated that Matt Harrison will be the Rangers' starting pitcher Friday. The left-hander has allowed 11 runs his past two starts, in just 4 2/3 innings.
