HOUSTON - The Texas Rangers' mastery of Houston at Minute Maid Park came to an end with a thud as the Astros blanked Texas 7-0 Thursday night.
The Rangers had won eight consecutive games in Houston, but did little right Thursday.
Left-hander Matt Harrison allowed five runs in six innings, while the offense managed just four hits and the defense committed two errors.
Houston broke open a 1-0 game with four runs in the fifth, all of them scoring with two outs. An error by Adrian Beltre allowed the first run to score, and the Astros followed that up with an RBI double from Jason Michaels and a two-run single from Chris Johnson.
The Astros added two more runs in seventh on a two-run homer from Michaels off Dave Bush.
While Houston was scoring, the Rangers missed out on scoring opportunities in the first and third. After that, they didn't have any as Wandy Rodriguez allowed just four singles in his seven innings.
