The Rangers just announced that they have reinstated center fielder Julio Borbon from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple A Round Rock, meaning that the platoon of Endy Chavez and Craig Gentry will remain in place indefinitely.
Chavez is hitting .415 (17 for 41) since he had his contract purchased from Round Rock on May 14. He and Gentry offer better defense than Borbon, who had been suffering from a hamstring injury.

Chavez does not offer better D than Borbon.

Borbon -.6 in the field. Chavez +1.1 according to fangraphs. All signs point to Chavez being the better defender.
