Rangers Webb slowed by shoulder inflammation

Texas right-hander Brandon Webb, who made his first official start in more than two years Monday, has been diagnosed with rotator cuff inflammation. Webb is taking anti-inflammatory medicine and has been taken off the rehab schedule for about at week.

Webb will continue to throw while he's down. In his first game since Opening Day 2009, Webb threw 77 pitches in 3 1/3 innings for Double A Frisco Monday. Webb allowed five runs in the outing, struck out two, walked two and hit a batter. His fastball topped out at 85 mph.

The Rangers signed Webb to an incentive-laden deal that guarantees him $3 million this season.
