The Rangers have placed catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. The Rangers hope they caught the injury before it became too severe. The injury surfaced Friday and started affecting his swing Sunday. He singled to right field in the eighth inning, but said that the swing that produced the hit wasn't his typically swing on a 3-1 pitch. Taylor Teagarden's plane from Des Moines, where Triple A Round Rock was playing, has landed and he will be on the bench today. Manager Ron Washington said that Teagarden will see a reasonable share of playing time whlie Napoli is out.
Michael Young is in the lineup at first base, and he will tie Rafael Palmeiro's club mark for games played (1,573). The record-breaker is expected to come Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
Scott Feldman reported no weakness in his right knee during his start Saturday night at Double A Frisco. He allowed two runs in four innings. Brandon Webb (shoulder) will start Tuesday for Frisco at Midland, throwing 45 pitches.
Tommy Hunter (groin) is scheduled to start Tuesday for Triple A Round Rock at Nashville. He pitched two and three innings in his first two starts on this rehab stint, so it would make sense that he would pitch four innings Tuesday. Eric Hurley (concussion) is expected to throw a bullpen session today and then start a minor-league rehab assignment later this week.
