Center fielder Julio Borbon underwent surgery on his left ankle Monday and won't be able to resume baseball activities for six weeks. Borbon suffered ligament damage July 8 at Triple A Round Rock after hurting his ankle while sliding into second base. Surgery was considered an option because it would add support to the ankle, which was also injured before his final year of college at Tennessee in 2007.
Round Rock right-hander Neil Ramirez won't need surgery on his shoulder after tests revealed no structural damage. Ramirez will take seven to 10 days off from throwing and will concentrate on strengthening exercises.
