Manager Ron Washington pegged left fielder Josh Hamilton and third baseman Adrian Beltre to hit fifth and sixth Tuesday in the 82nd All-Star Game. Hamilton will hit behind Jose Bautista, and Beltre will bat ahead of David Ortiz as Washington attempts to provide as much balance between right- and left-handed hitters. Robinson Cano will hit eighth, which prompted Washington to issue a warning to counterpart Bruce Bochy.
"You've got Robinson Cano hitting eighth," Washington said. "All I can say is, 'Watch out, Bruce.' "
The AL lineup: Curtis Granderson, cf; Asdrubal Cabrera, ss; Adrian Gonzalez, 1b; Jose Bautista, rf; Josh Hamilton, lf; Adrian Beltre, 3b; David Ortiz, dh; Robinson Cano, 2b; Alex Avila, c.
Washington picked Angels right-hander Jered Weaver to start for the AL team. Roy Halladay got the starting nod for the NL.
