Adrian Beltre hit the field for the first time since reinjuring his left hamstring. He did some agility work and light running at Angel Stadium, and also was going some work in the weight room. Manager Ron Washington isn't expecting Beltre to return until September. Washington said that the Rangers will try to keep Beltre from pushing too hard during this rehab period.
David Murphy is in the lineup for a second straight game, but not necessarily because of his game-winning hit Sunday. Washington said that the plan all along was to give Endy Chavez two consecutive games off.
Second baseman Ian Kinsler said that he just flat missed the groundball that went for a fifth-inning error Sunday and allowed two runs score. The mistake ended his streak of 42 games without an error. Washington said that Kinsler rates as one of the best defensive second baseman in the league and turns the double play better than anyone in either league.
Myrtle Beach right-hander Barret Loux was placed on the disabled list with shoulder fatigue. Loux, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2010 draft who didn't sign with Arizona over injury concerns, failed to get out of the fourth inning in his past two starts.
