Nelson Cruz suffered a Grade 1 minor strain of his left hamstring Sunday night and is expected to be out of the Rangers' lineup for three weeks.
Leonys Martin, the Cuban defector who signed a big-league contract in May, will likely take Cruz's roster spot, though David Murphy would appear to be the first choice to replace Cruz in right field.
General manager Jon Daniels said that there are no attractive, realistic trade opportunities before Wednesday's deadline to acquire players and have them eligible for the postseason. That includes St. Louis outfielder Lance Berkman.
Any player acquired in a trade must first clear waivers.
An MRI exam taken Monday revealed the extent of Cruz's injury. He received a blood-platelet injection into the strain to help speed up the recovery time.

Cruz has been out almost 2,3 times every year. Need to get serious about this problem.
