Thursday pregame Rangers notes

The off day Monday could lead the Rangers to try to get some starters some extra rest. A number of scenarios are being considered, including the possibility of skipping a starter or dropping in a spot starter to get everyone an extra day. While some are expressing concern about the workload of Matt Harrison, Derek Holland and Alexi Ogando, they all say that they feel fine.

Adrian Beltre said he had no update to offer, though he didn't run at 100 percent. He ran at "good enough" percent. Washington said that Beltre doesn't need to be at 100 percent before heading on a rehab assignment. Beltre needs to be to the point where he can manage his strained left hamstring for the rest of the season. Saturday remains the earlies Beltre could be cleared for an assignment.

The three-man bench will also be remedied in the coming days, once the bullpen is sorted out. Washington wants a fourth position player on the bench. At this rate, though, the bullpen will be unsettled until the off day.
