Nelson Cruz will be the Rangers' starting designated hitter Saturday assuming that nothing weird happens between tonight and the 6:10 p.m. first pitch Saturday. Cruz said that he's good to go, though manager Ron Washington hasn't determined when Cruz will be good to go in right field.
The pitching rotation has been set for the rest of the season, and Alexi Ogando will start only one more time. He gets that start Sept. 24 at home against Seattle. Follow along: Colby Lewis and Matt Harrison will pitch this weekend; Derek Holland, C.J. Wilson and Lewis will go Tuesday-Thursday at Oakland; Harrison, Ogando and Holland will pitch next weekend against Seattle; and Wilson, Lewis and Harrison will pitch the final series at Anaheim.
Adrian Beltre, who is the DH tonight, said that his left hamstring is improving, but he doesn't want to force the issue with it. Washington doesn't want Beltre to force it either, and is fine with Beltre running at his current effort the rest of the year.
