Rangers general manager Jon Daniels met with the media before Game 3 on Saturday afternoon, and inevitably drew questions about the upcoming free agency of left-hander C.J. Wilson.
“We’d like to have him back,” Daniels said.
Daniels reiterated that the team doesn’t like to negotiate with free agents during the season because it could become a distraction, not only for the free agent but also the other free agents in the clubhouse.
If they aren’t able to resign Wilson, similar to them losing out on Cliff Lee last winter, Daniels is comfortable that there are enough arms within the system to fill the void.
“We’re really proud of what our guys were able to do as far as bringing really good arms together,” Daniels said. “But you can never have enough pitching.”
