A night after winning the Gold Glove, Adrian Beltre has been named winner of the 2011 Silver Slugger Award for third base.
It's the third time Beltre has been named to the Silver Slugger team -- 2004 with the Dodgers and 2010 with the Red Sox. He joins Buddy Bell (1984) as the only other Texas third baseman to win the award.
Beltre also holds three Gold Gloves, joining Mike Schmidt and Matt Williams as the only other third baseman in history to win both the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger at least three times in a career.
He is the eighth AL third baseman to win the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in the same season, joining Evan Longoria (2009), Eric Chavez (2002), Matt Williams (1997), Wade Boggs (1994), Kelly Gruber (1990), George Brett (1985) and Buddy Bell (1984).
In 2011, Beltre slugged .561 with 32 home runs and 105 RBIs.
