Mike Olt has been named Arizona Fall League player of the week for the fifth week of the season.
Olt, a rising third baseman in the Texas Rangers organization who is playing for Surprise in the fall league, hit .571 (8 for 14) with one double, two home runs and eight RBIs to help his team to a 4-1 record on the week.
Olt leads the fall league in home runs (8) and slugging percentage (.705), and is tied for the league lead in RBIs (30).
Olt, 23, was a first-round compensation pick (49th overall) in the 2010 draft out of the University of Connecticut. He hit .267 with 14 home runs and 42 RBIs in 69 games for High-A Myrtle Beach in 2011.
