ARLINGTON – Yu Darvish isn’t shy of the spotlight.
He was a star in Japan, and came to the Texas Rangers in impressive fashion. With the majority of the ownership group and front office on hand, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and manager Ron Washington presented Darvish with a Rangers uniform at his introductory press conference on Friday night at Rangers Ballpark.
“I’m excited,” Darvish said. “That’s all I feel right now, just excitement.”
Darvish spoke on a variety of topics, including pitching in Texas and his expectations. He said he would adjust to the Texas heat throughout the summer, and wasn’t going to place too high of expectations on himself.
“I’m just going to do the best I can do, and make my starts,” Darvish said. “Off the field, the pressure, I’m not going to be too tight about it and be relaxed.”
