The Texas Rangers reached a two-year contract extension with manager Ron Washington on Monday, taking him through the 2014 season. Financial terms were not released.
Washington was hired prior to the 2007 season, and has led the Rangers to two consecutive World Series. Texas won a franchise-record 96 games last season, and Washington was named AL manager of the year by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.
