Josh Hamilton makes appearance, passes on media requests

Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is currently signing books and helping promote his wife's religious art business at Lifeway Christian Books in Hurst, but he passed on interview requests from the media.

More than 600 people gathered at the bookstore near North East Mall on a chilly Saturday afternoon. A store clerk said that Hamilton extended his appearance from one hour to three hours so that he could sign as many books as possible.

The appearance is Hamilton's first in public in the Metroplex since he suffered a relapse with alcohol Jan. 30. Hamilton held a news conference Feb. 3 at Rangers Ballpark, speaking for more than 12 minutes about the incident but without taking questions.
