Sunday afternoon Rangers update from Surprise

Here are a few Texas Rangers notes from Sunday afternoon:

* Left-handed reliever Joe Beimel is out at least 2-3 days with left elbow stiffness.

* Right-hander Matt West has right elbow fatigue, and didn't throw today. He is scheduled to throw on Monday.

* Ron Washington put utility infielder candidate Alberto Gonzalez through his standard 12-minute infield drill, and said he "killed [Gonzalez's] legs." Washington said that isn't too surprising on the first day, and expects him to breeze through them by the end of spring training. Gonzalez, Greg Miclat, Yangervis Solarte and Luis Hernandez are the four candidates for the job.
