Josh Hamilton said it'd be "miraculous" if he reached a contract extension with the Texas Rangers before Opening Day on April 6.
"But it could," Hamilton said, smiling.
Hamilton went on to say that he'd be open to signing an extension during the season, as long as it didn't become a distraction.
"If it was not drug out and handled quietly and not stressful at all for me, I would," Hamilton said. "Because I'm playing ball during the season, so it would only make sense to have it stress free."
Hamilton and the Rangers were expected to have negotiations during the offseason, but those were put on hold after Hamilton's latest relapse with alcohol in late January.
