Colby Lewis had another impressive start, Adrian Beltre belted a three-run homer and the Texas Rangers went on to a 7-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday at Rangers Ballpark.
Lewis allowed one run on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts. It was his fifth consecutive start of at least six innings, and he has not allowed more than two runs in an outing yet this season.
The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Josh Hamilton had a two-run single off Rays starter Jeff Niemann.
Tampa Bay pulled to within 2-1 on a solo homer by Matt Joyce to lead off the second inning.
Runs were scarce all night, but the Rangers scratched another one out in the sixth and then broke loose for four in the seventh.
Mitch Moreland had a one-out double in the seventh and eventually scored on a throwing error by Rays catcher Jose Molina. Beltre then belted a three-run homer after the Rays issued an intentional walk to Hamilton.
