Sunday's Rangers notes: Mike Napoli to catch Yu Darvish's debut

Mike Napoli is out of tonight's lineup, but will be back in it Monday to catch Yu Darvish's major league debut against Seattle.

Manager Ron Washington said the decision had no bearing on who Darvish will throw to during the season. Washington has said that he isn't a fan of personal catchers, and neither is Napoli.

"I want to keep them both engaged," Washington said.

Washington went on to say that Darvish has developed a repertoire with both Napoli and Torrealba.

Other notes from Sunday:

* Yoshinori Tateyama, on the disabled list with a back injury, threw a bullpen session for the first time since March 29 on Sunday. Manager Ron Washington said Tateyama should be ready to go on a rehab assignment after the season-opening home stand that ends on Thursday.

* Brad Hawpe went 3 for 4 with a two RBIs and a homer for Doulbe A Frisco Saturday. Hawpe, a Saginaw Boswell product who lives in Westlake, will begin playing in the outfield a couple games a week. Once he rebuilds his arm strength and is able to play in the outfield, the Rangers would consider him for a bench spot.

* Joe Nathan said he would be able to pitch Sunday, his third consecutive day. Nathan did not throw on three consecutive days all of last season, as he was coming off Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery. "Everything feels great," Nathan said. "The last two nights I didn't really tax my arm too much, so I can go."
