Neftali Feliz wants to stay in the Texas Rangers' rotation when he returns from right elbow inflammation.
Feliz made his first public comments since landing on the disabled list, and made it clear that he views himself as a starter instead of a reliever. He moved into the rotation this season after spending two years as the team's closer.
The Rangers have been looking at options with Feliz down, and have gone with Scott Feldman so far. Feldman started on Wednesday at Seattle, and is scheduled to start again on Tuesday. The team has said it would consider all options, including the possiblity of signing free agent right-hander Roy Oswalt.
Here are other notes from Friday:
* Catcher Mike Napoli was in the original starting lineup for the Rangers, but was scratched with an upset stomach. Manager Ron Washington expects Napoli to be ready to catch on Saturday afternoon.
* Ron Washington said the team will consider shortening their batting practice rounds with the heat starting to pick up in the Metroplex. They had a full round of BP scheduled on Friday, but might alter their plans for the rest of the weekend.
* The Rangers have gone 4-6 over their past 10 games, and went 10-10 on their stretch of 20 games in 20 days. Ron Washington said the team is in a little bit of a "lull," but wasn't too concerned about it at this point in the season. "Things got a little flat, but it's a long year," Washington said. "You never know when things are going to turn around. We're going to break out and get back on a roll."
