Right-hander Neftali Feliz, who battled command issues over 4 2/3 innings Friday night, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation.
He was in Arlington this morning for an MRI exam -- the results of which are pending -- but the Rangers decided to shut him down rather than give him the opportunity to work through the discomfort.
The Rangers have recalled right-handed reliever Yoshinori Tateyama from Triple A Round Rock and will start Scott Feldman on Wednesday in Feliz's spot in the rotation.
Feliz, who is transitioning from the closer's role to the rotation this season, experienced tightness in his shoulder around the halfway point of spring training and was shut down for a few days before resuming a throwing program. He was ready for the start of the regular season and made his first career start April 10.
Feliz is 3-1 with a 3.16 in seven starts and one relief appearance. He said that he never felt comfortable Friday at Houston, when he walked five and hit a batter. He threw 101 pitches, 51 balls, but didn't make any comments regarding the health of his shoulder.
