Thursday's Rangers notes: Hamilton off today; Nathan regains velocity

Manager Ron Washington has spent the past week getting all of his regulars rest, and Josh Hamilton is the latest on the list. Hamilton was given a day off Thursday.

Washington said he needed to get his players rest because of a grueling road trip and because the Rangers are in the midst of playing 20 games in 20 days. He went on to say that he wanted all of his players fresh for this weekend's series against the Astros in Houston.

Here are other pregame notes:

* Joe Nathan struck out the side in picking up his eight save on Wednesday. Nathan was sitting 95-96 mph with his fastball, something he hasn't done since 2006-07. "It feels good to feel good," Nathan said.

* Scott Feldman will not be available out of the bullpen today after making a spot start on Monday. Ron Washington said Feldman would be available beginning Friday.

* Washington said the team would not make any roster moves for their interleague series against the Astros. The Rangers will already benefit by having a five-man bench, as there is no designated hitter in the National League.
