Wednesday's Mariners-Rangers lineups: Elvis Andrus sits

Manager Ron Washington had seen four plays of late that Elvis Andrus should have made but didn't, and he didn't want to see a fifth. So, Andrus gets a day off in the finale of the homestand to rest his mind more than his body. When Andrus' mind is sharp, said Washington, he makes the plays in question. Adrian Beltre also gets a break, sort of, as the Rangers' designated hitter. With a day off Thursday, Andrus and Beltre are getting two days off while missing only one game.

Mariners lineup vs. LHP Derek Holland: Dustin Ackley, 2b; Chone Figgins, rf; Kyle Seager, 3b; Jesus Montero, dh; Justin Smoak, 1b; Alex Liddi, lf; Miguel Olivo, c; Michael Saunders, cf; Brendan Ryan, ss.

Rangers lineup vs. RHP Blake Beavan: Ian Kinsler, 2b; Michael Young, 3b; Josh Hamilton, cf; Adrian Beltre, dh; David Murphy, lf; Nelson Cruz, rf; Mike Napoli, c; Mitch Moreland, 1b; Alberto Gonzalez, ss.
