Wednesday's Rangers pregame notes: Feliz focused on getting healthy; Andrus gets break

Neftali Feliz views himself as a starter for now, and didn't have too much of a reaction to the Texas Rangers signing right-hander Roy Oswalt. Feliz is sidelined with right elbow inflammation and will not be available to pitch until after the All-Star break.

"I know that every player coming to team is here to help, and that's what they got him [Oswalt] for," Feliz said.

Feliz met with manager Ron Washington on Wednesday afternoon, and the message was simply to for Feliz to get healthy and not worry about his future role.

Here are a few other notes:

* Elvis Andrus has the day off. He will get two consecutive days off with the Rangers having an offday on Thursday. Andrus has had -- by Ron Washington's count -- four mental relapses on defense over the past week. "I didn't want to see five," Washington said.

* Yu Darvish is scheduled to start on Saturday against Anaheim, and said he is feeling better. He left his last start after the fifth inning with back stiffness.

* Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is throwing out the first pitch tonight, and had the same advice as he gives every first pitcher -- "Don't bounce it," Washington said. Washington said he gives that advice to every male who throws out the first pitch. If it's a female, Washington advises them to play from the "ladies' tee" so they can get it to the plate.
