Mitch Moreland is heading to the disabled list for the first time in his career.
The Texas Rangers placed the first baseman on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain, and is expected to be out four-to-six weeks. That move clears a spot on the 25-man roster for Roy Oswalt.
However, the Rangers have not made a 40-man roster decision yet. That will be coming shortly.
Moreland was hitting .272 with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in 55 games (158 at-bats) for the Rangers. He injured his hamstring on Tuesday in San Diego.
