Rangers 4, Padres 2 (F)

SAN DIEGO -- Yu Darvish allowed two runs in eight innings Wednesday, and the Rangers' offense played small ball for each of its runs to complete a three-game sweep of San Diego with a 4-2 victory at Petco Park.

Darvish, though, trailed 2-0 through four innings after mound counterpart Anthony Bass slapped a two-run single just inside the first-base line in the second inning.

The Rangers got one back with two outs in the fifth as Alberto Gonzalez singled in David Murphy, who had walked with one out and swiped second base.

The biggest sequence of the game was a bases-loaded walk to Yorvit Torrealba in a two-run sixth two batters after Nelson Cruz had barely beaten out a double-play try to push home the tying run.

Michael Young added an insurance run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly during a plate appearance in which Ian Kinsler stole second base and third.

Darvish (9-4) finished the day with five hits and three walks allowed while striking out eight. Of his 122 pitches, 81 were strikes.

Joe Nathan pitched around a two-out single in the ninth for his 15th save.
