Right-hander Alexi Ogando has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Monday, with a right groin strain. The Texas Rangers have recalled left-hander Michael Kirkman from Triple A Round Rock.
Ogando injured his groin during Sunday's game at San Francisco, making his first start of the season. It's his first stint on the DL in the big leagues. He is the third member of the Opening Day pitching staff placed on the DL, joining Derek Holland and Neftali Feliz.
The Rangers have not announced a scheduled starter for Saturday's game against Houston.
Kirkman has gone 5-1 with a 5.25 ERA in 15 games, including eight starts, with the Express.
