Day 2 of the MLB First-Year Player Draft is complete, and the Texas Rangers have used their first 18 picks to select eight pitchers (seven right-handed and one left-handed), seven outfielders, two infielders and one catcher. They have taken seven high school players compared to 11 college players.
The Rangers had five of the first 93 picks, and used all of them on high-ceiling high school players. After that, though, they had a steady run of college players, including University of Texas at Arlington outfielder Preston Beck in the fifth round.
The draft continues at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with rounds 16-40.
