Josh Hamilton had been at his station for about, oh, two minutes, before the first question about his contract situation was posed. He offered nothing new, because nothing is new between him and the Rangers as he heads toward free agency this off-season.
Hamilton stressed that he will give the Rangers the first opportunity to negotiate with him once the off-season rolls around. He didn't dismiss the possibility that negotiations could resume before the season ends, but he said that agent Mike Moye has promised to keep any new developments away from him until it reaches a point where he needs to be involved.
"We love Texas. We'd love to stay in the Texas," Hamilton said. "It's not like we're going to run off to free agency and give everyone else a shot before the Rangers. There's that loyalty there. Right now, I'm just focusing on the task at hand.
"They get the first shot. They had a shot earlier this year and didn't really take it. We kind of shut down talks, mutual agreement."
