Right-hander Roy Oswalt said that his back feels 100 percent better after getting an injection of anti-inflammatory medication Monday in Houston, and he expects to be back in the Rangers' rotation Sunday after missing one start.
Oswalt will throw a bullpen session Friday as a final test of his facet joint, which he said flares up on him from time to time. In the past he has tried to pitch through it and ended up missing three or four starts. He is hopeful that he caught this one early enough to stay in the rotation the rest of the season.
He believes the cause of the flare-up is too much work between his recent starts.
"The last two or three starts, I've thrown a ton in the bullpen just so I could get my mechanics where I wanted them to be," he said. "I plan on being back out there Sunday. I feel confident I got it early."
