Saturday pregame Rangers notes: Josh Hamilton in lineup

Josh Hamilton declared himself ready to go tonight against Minnesota after leaving Friday's game early with lower back spasms. Hamilton, who will be the designated hitter, tested the back by hitting in the batting cage near the Rangers' clubhouse. He did not take batting practice on the field, and he wasn't available for comment before the clubhouse was closed to the media.

Justin Grimm has been optioned to Double A Frisco to clear a roster spot for Derek Holland, who is coming off the disabled list and starting tonight. Grimm will pitch for Frisco on Monday and be promoted to Round Rock. Grimm won his major-league debut June 16, but lost his second major-league start and struggled this week in relief at Chicago.

The Rangers are planning to put Yu Darvish back in the rotation quickly after the All-Star break even though they could skip him all the way until the series at Anaheim on July 20-22. Darvish, who hasn't pitched since July 1, could make two starts on the second-half-opening trip.
