Luis Martinez's stay with the Rangers as an insurance policy will last through the Oakland series as Yorvit Torrealba will head to the three-day paternity-leave list for the arrival of a daughter in the Miami area.
Torrealba is planning to leave tonight after the Rangers wrap up their series with Seattle for a Tuesday delivery. Mike Napoli is expected to be ready to play after the Monday off day. He said that the bruise near his right knee is feeling much better today. The area remains swollen, but it has gone down and he has more flexibility.
Martinez was with the Rangers in spring training. Manager Ron Washington said that he's a good defensive catcher who is handy with the bat. Washington, though, expects to use Napoli in both Oakland games.
Alexi Ogando will join the Rangers for the start of the Oakland series, but a decision hasn't been made on Koji Uehara. They both pitched Saturday for Round Rock on rehab assignments. It was Ogando's second appearance and Uehara's first. If he is told to pitch one more time, he could do so Monday in Frisco rather than travel to Nashville with Round Rock.
Colby Lewis threw a bullpen session today and is expected to be actived Wednesday. With Ogando, Uehara and Lewis coming back, Tanner Scheppers, Michael Kirkman and Martin Perez are candidates to be cleared from the roster with options to Round Rock.
