Rangers like the club they have and are confident they can win the American League West.
At the same time, multiple players took time Monday to ask members of the media which players the Rangers could get ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, and they are expecting that some sort of deal will be made within the next 24 hours.
The name that brought the most optimism was Cliff Lee, though that sense isn't shared throughout the organization. Club officials aren't expecting a significant move with Lee after making little headway with the Phillies on how much of Lee's remaining contract they will pick up.
A source said that the Rangers have made inquiries on Cleveland outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to give the struggling lineup a boost. The club continues to be linked to Kansas City closer Jonathan Broxton, a move that would allow the Rangers to move Alexi Ogando to the rotation.
