Mike Napoli lands on disabled list

Three days of rest didn't help Mike Napoli's left quad soreness. It never got better and the Rangers have decided to place him on the 15-day disabled list with a left quad strain.

The Rangers recalled catcher Luis Martinez from Triple A Round Rock. With Napoli out, Geovany Soto will receive the bulk of the catching responsibilities, manager Ron Washington said.

Napoli has struggled at the plate all season, batting .223 with 17 home runs and 40 RBIs in 92 games.

Here are a few other notes:

* Matt Harrison had his last start in Boston cut short because of a stomach virus. He said it's out of his system and he will make his next scheduled start in New York on Tuesday.

* Nelson Cruz is back in the lineup today after leaving Friday's game with low back stiffness. Cruz said he woke up feeling well, and is ready to go.

* Koji Uehara made it out of his bullpen session Friday with no problems, and is scheduled to throw another one on Sunday.
