Tuesday's Rangers notes

Mike Napoli said this season has been a grind, as he's been in the training room since spring training. At first, it was for the sprained left ankle he suffered in Game 6 of the World Series. Then he had nagging quad injuries and a hurt right knee.

He played through it all until landing on the disabled list Saturday with a strained left quad.

Napoli is rehabbing on the road, making the Rangers trip to New York. He took batting practice for the first time today, and hopes he will be ready when he is eligible to return on Aug. 26.

Here are a few other notes:

* Koji Uehara is scheduled to throw a live batting practice on Wednesday at Double A Frisco. He will throw another live BP session on Aug. 18 and, if all goes well, begin a rehab assignment with Triple A Round Rock on Aug. 21. He is scheduled to make another appearance on Aug. 24, and could be ready to join the Rangers on Aug. 26.

* Ron Washington has been selected for induction into the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame. He served as hitting coach for the Sun Cities Solar Sox in 1992 and the Tucson Javelinas in 1993.

* The Rangers signed veteran catcher Koyie HIll to a minor-league contract today. He will join Triple A Round Rock tonight at Reno.
