Thursday pregame Rangers notes: Yu Darvish likely Sunday

Manager Ron Washington hadn't received a medical report on Yu Darvish as of his briefing with the media, but the right-hander appears to be headed toward starting Sunday on his normal turn.

Washington said that Friday's probable starter Ryan Dempster, has no reason to think he won't start the opener against Oakland. Derek Holland isn't sure when he'll pitch yet, but he's scheduled for Saturday.

Darvish threw off flat ground Thursday. Washington said that Darvish could make his next start without a bullpen session.

Washington also said that Martin Perez, who lasted two-thirds of an inning Wednesday, is the scheduled starter for Monday. Washington did not consider Scott Feldman and Roy Oswalt as candidates.

David Murphy gets a day off today against A's lefty Travis Blackley. It's not just a lefty-vs.-lefty thing. Washington has seen Murphy struggling of late and had been planning to get him a day off. Murphy didn't want it, but acknowledged that this is the most he has played in his career.
