Manager Ron Washington said that right-hander Yu Darvish will start the Rangers' playoff opener, whether that's Friday in the wild-card game, Saturday at Detroit, or Sunday at the wild-card winner.
The right-hander, who pitched Sunday, would be on normal rest should the Rangers lose Wednesday and slide into the wild-card game against either Baltimore or New York.
"He's got stuff, and he's figured out how to use his repetoire now," Washington said. "I like the way he goes out there and competes now."
Mike Adams was hoping to get on a mound Friday to see how if he can be a viable bullpen option for the postseason. He said that his neck strain is feeling better but that his Thoracic Outlet Syndrome symptoms are more pronounced now that he knows what is actually happening. He said every day is something different with TOS, but is hoping to be able to pitch.
The Rangers certainly didn't seem like an uptight bunch this morning. They were crowded around Elvis Andrus' iPad watching Jackass-esque pranks, and starting pitcher Ryan Dempster requested to hear some 2 Live Crew.
