Third baseman Adrian Beltre has been named the Rangers' Player of the Year in voting by the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Buddy Bell (1979, 1981, 1982) and Michael Young (2009) are the only other Rangers third basemen to win the award. Beltre hit .321 with 36 homers and 102 RBIs in 156 games in 2012. He finished third in the league in batting average and total bases (339) and was fourth in hits (194) and slugging percentage (.561).
Beltre was also award with his second straight Gold Glove. He is a finalist for American League MVP, which will be announced Thursday.
Beltre will receive his honor at the 2013 Texas Rangers Dr Pepper Awards Show, which will be held Jan. 11 in conjuction with Fan Fest.
Fan Fest will run Jan. 11-12 at the Arlington Convention Center. Tickets go on sale Thursday.

Fan Fest admission will be $25 for adults and $15 for children 13 and under for a one-day pass, and $40 for adults and $25 for children 13 and under for a two-day pass. A limited number of Autograph Fast Passes, which guarantee the Fast Pass holders every autograph for every player who will be participating in the formal autograph sessions on Friday and Saturday with “front of the line” access, will also be on sale for $500 per pass (Fan Fest event tickets are additional cost).
