The Texas Rangers announced a few minor moves today:
* They acquired right-handed reliever Cory Burns from San Diego in exchange for a player to be named later or cash. Burns made his big league debut for the Padres last season, allowing 11 runs over 18 innings in 17 appearances. Burns was placed on the 40-man roster, as the Rangers now have 39 players on it.
* Texas has also agreed to terms with infielder Yangervis Solarte and right-hander Collin Balester on minor league deals with invitations to big league spring training. Solarte spent last season in the Rangers organization at Triple A Round Rock, batting .288 with 28 doubles, 11 home runs and 54 RBIs. Balester went 2-0 with a 6.50 ERA over 11 relief appearances with Detroit last season.
* Finally, the Rangers announced that Yu Darvish was the team's rookie of the year. The right-hander went 16-9 with a 3.90 ERA over 29 starts.
