The Texas Rangers have their first on-field action of spring training with an intrasquad game at 12:15 today. But Adrian Beltre and Lance Berkman won't be part of it.
Beltre has a minor right calf injury that isn't considered serious, while Berkman recoveries from right knee surgery and began camp at about 80 percent.
"They're slow-pacing it," manager Ron Washington said.
Those two were the only notable players missing from today's lineup.
Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus are batting 1-2 for the home team. Yu Darvish is the starting pitcher followed by Robbie Ross, Tanner Scheppers, Randy Wells, Justin Grimm and Cory Burns.
The away team features Jurickson Profar and Craig Gentry batting 1-2. Alexi Ogando starts for that team followed by Jake Brigham, Michael Kirkman, Collin Balestar, Martin Perez and Coty Woods.
Here are a few other notes from Tuesday morning:
* Washington said he likes Ian Kinsler in the leadoff role as he can be the "spark plug" to the offense. His center fielders -- Julio Borbon, Craig Gentry and Leonys Martin -- possess leadoff-type skills but Washington said he felt they were too inexperienced for the role.
* On the injury front, right-hander Wilmer Font has joined the list with mild right shoulder tendinitis. He is scheduled to throw off flat-ground Wednesday and then progress to bullpen sessions.
