SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Texas Rangers had their biggest round of cuts to date Tuesday morning, sending 12 from big-league camp to minor-league camp.
Mike Olt, the top power hitting prospect, was optioned to Triple A Round Rock. Olt had a .194 batting average over 31 Cactus League at-bats.
Left-hander Jeff Beliveau, right-hander Wilmer Font and outfielder Engel Beltre were also optioned to Round Rock.
The Rangers also re-assigned the following to minor-league camp: right-handers Collin Balestar, Evan Meek and Yoshinori Tateyama; left-hander Neal Cotts; catchers Juan Apodaca and Jose Felix; and infielders Brandon Snyder and Brandon Allen.
Balestar and Meek were both in camp as potential right-handed relief candidates, but had double-digit ERAs.
