Yu Darvish scratched from tonight's start with stiff neck

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Yu Darvish has been scratched from his scheduled start tonight with a stiff neck.

Darvish felt the stiffness when he was working out on Sunday and didn't want to risk further injury. Derek Lowe will start in his place.

Darvish was scheduled to make his fourth start this spring, as he has a 1.04 ERA so far over 8 2/3 innings.

Darvish issued the following statement:

"I felt a very mild strain in my neck and that caused stiffness. If this was a regular season game, I would start. However, since it is a spring training game, this is just precautionary on my part."
