Angels 8, Rangers 4 (F)

ARLINGTON – Matt Harrison struggled in his second start and was one of the Texas Rangers’ pitchers who couldn’t keep the ball inside the ballpark. The Los Angeles Angels swatted four home runs en route to an 8-4 victory on Saturday afternoon at Rangers Ballpark.

Albert Pujols had two home runs for the Angels, while Mark Trumbo and Peter Bourjos also went deep.

The Rangers found themselves in an early hole when the Angels scored four runs in the first off Harrison. Pujols and Trumbo each had two-run shots in the opening inning.

The Angels extended their lead to 5-0 with another run in the second against Harrison.

The Rangers (3-2) got back within striking distance on a pair of solo shots in the third by Mitch Moreland and Ian Kinsler, but never truly threatened.

With a 5-2 lead going into the sixth, the Angels made it 7-2 on a pair of solo shots by Bourjos and Pujols off Rangers reliever Jason Frasor.

Harrison suffered his second loss of the season, allowing five runs on eight hits with four walks (two intentional) and three strikeouts over five innings.

Nelson Cruz belted his first homer of the season, a solo shot down the left-field line to start the ninth. The Angels and Rangers combined to hit seven homers on the day.

While the Angels won, Josh Hamilton continued to struggle. He went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and a walk. The Rangers intentionally walked Pujols three times to get to Hamilton, who proceeded to strike out twice and fly out.
