A small blister developed on the right ring finger of Yu Darvish on Tuesday night during his bid for a perfect game, but the Rangers believe that he will make his next start Sunday against the Angels.
Darvish threw only fastballs in the ninth inning, but that had nothing to do with the blister. He was trying to get ahead of hitters, as he had tried to do all game, and thought that Astros hitters would take a strike down 7-0.
The Rangers also aren't concerned about Darvish's 111-pitch workload affecting him this weekend. The right-hander admitted that he was fatigued toward the end of the game because he never cracked more than 78 pitches during spring training.
Manager Ron Washington said that there has been no thought to pushing Darvish back, and pitching coach Mike Maddux said that Darvish will remain on his normal schedule.
