Right-hander Colby Lewis was taken off medical rehabilitation assignment Monday and he also received an anti-inflammatory injection for triceps tendinitis.
Lewis must stay inactive for seven days before starting a new assignment, and the Rangers are hopeful that he can pitch early next week.
Lewis made a rehab start Thursday for Triple A Round Rock, tossing two innings and allowing three runs at Las Vegas. But he felt soreness Saturday ahead of his between-starts bullpen session and was scratched.
He saw Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington today and will throw a bullpen session later in the week after the Rangers return home from their four-city, nine-game road trip.
