Rangers 2, Angels 1 (F)

No trade deadline move, no problem.

Hours after the trade deadline came and went with no moves by the Texas Rangers’ front office, the players ended the day on a high.

The Rangers walked off for their third consecutive victory on another game-ending home run, as Adrian Beltre went deep in the ninth to send the Rangers’ to a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night at Rangers Ballpark.

The Rangers swept the Angels in a three-game series at home for the first time since 2009, and have won three straight after losing eight of 10 to start the second half. They also pulled to within four games of the A’s in the American League West.

Geovany Soto had a game-winning homer on Friday, and Leonys Martin delivered on Saturday.

With the game tied 1-1 going to the ninth, Beltre stepped up and deposited a pitch from  Angels right-handed reliever Michael Kohn into the left-field seats.

Martin Perez didn’t get the win, but pitched one of the better games of his young career. The rookie left-hander went a career-long 7 1/3 innings, allowing only a run on a solo homer by Josh Hamilton.

The Hamilton homer came in the seventh inning, evening the score at 1-1 after the Rangers had taken it on a solo blast by Nelson Cruz in the second inning.

The Rangers had plenty of chances to pull away early in the game, too. They ran into three outs on the bases in the first three innings, and left runners at first and second in the eighth.
