Lance Berkman went 1 for 4 on Sunday night at Triple A Round Rock, a day after going 2 for 3 with a home run on Saturday. He will take today off and then serve as the designated hitter at Double A Frisco on Tuesday and Wednesday.
After that, the Rangers will evaluate Berkman and see if he's ready to return to the majors. Berkman, 37, has been sidelined since July 7 with left hip inflammation, and has also dealt with soreness in his surgically-repaired right knee.
Neftali Feliz, meanwhile, is day to day with mild triceps tendinitis. Feliz, rehabbing from Tommy John elbow surgery, tried to get loose and get into Sunday's game but was shut down after he couldn't.
The Rangers said that mild triceps tendinitis is a common issue for pitchers coming back from Tommy John, and that it is not considered serious at this point.
