Left-hander Travis Blackley has been tabbed as Tuesday's starter for the Texas Rangers. The Rangers will purchase his contract prior to the game and make a corresponding move at that point.
Blackley threw three innings in a start Thursday at Triple A Round Rock, and will be pitching on four days' rest. The Rangers acquired Blackley from the Astros for cash considerations last week.
Blackley spent all season in the Houston bullpen, compiling a 4.89 ERA over 42 appearances. He started 15 games for the Athletics last season, though, and has 23 career starts.
Ross Wolf, the other candidate for Tuesday's start, will remain the longman in the Rangers' bullpen.
